Meet My New Love, Mason.

Oh Mason, how I love thee.

The things I can say about Mason..

Jar that is.

I have a new found love for mason jars!

I have always loved jars of any kind, but there is just something so appealing about mason jars. They’re so retro, yet so chique, yet country… All at once! That’s versatility if you ask me!

Because everyone is moving out, we had this “stuff swap” room in my residence, where people bring clothes/books/stuff that they don’t want or need anymore. Whatever is in the room is basically a free for all!

Among a few other things, I found some lovely mason jars!

After a thorough washing- they were ready to go!

I’d like to introduce you to:

Steel Cut Oatie, a single bachelor looking for a companion…

And also, meet:

Rolled Oata, a bacheloroatte in search for a perfect partner…

Well, whaddaya know… One day, Rolled Oata and Steel Cut Oaty crossed paths and hit it off!

Now they live happily ever after in their humble pantry, creating beautiful children breakfasts almost every morning.

Such as this baby here:

Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Overnight Steel Cut AND Rolled Oats

Rolled oats combined with steel cut oats in overnight oat recipes create the perfect texture bound bowl of flavor infused breakfasts.

It’s my new favoroat combo!

In the mix for one serving: 1/4 rolled oats + 1/8 cup steel cut oats.

Try it, you’ll like it! Trust me, I know what I’m talking aboat.

Back to jars… Another nut butter jar bites the dust!

Bye bye hazelnut butter, it was nice knowing eating you! Till we meat again!

I don’t know if you recall me saying that I would gladly take on the challenge of trying to finish all my nut/seed butters before my big move… Well, I’ve been doing pretty well!

Well this is what I’ve got left:

+ some Tahini (which I forgot to add)

And they’re all nearing the bottom:

I don’t know if it’s something to be proud of that I’ve conquered almost all of my butters…

But, not gonna lie, I’m pretty proud!

Although, I do REALLY miss Almond Butter, it has been weeks since I’ve had any, and I CANNOT wait to go get some more! After I finish the cashew butter I will!

Out of all my nut/seed butter experiences, I have had the hardest time getting through the pretty small jar of cashew butter! I like cashews, but in butter form, it just isn’t my favorite! If I go buy almond butter or peanut butter before I finish the cashew butter…then I don’t know if I’ll ever finish it. And I. Must. Finish. It.

If I had to choose three butters that are a definite win and pantry/fridge essential in my book, they would be:

  1. This almond butter
  2. Organic creamy peanut butter
  3. Sunbutter
  4. Coconut Butter (Okay I had to choose four…couldn’t decide!)

Some other butters that I’m curious to try are Pecan Butter and Pumpkin Seed Butter!

Okay so enough with this butter jargon!

To Fu or Not To Fu? That is the question…

Today my dear bro, Felix, turns 22! Happy Birthday!!!! Love YOU!

This morning I had a very early breakfast! Woke up too hungry to go back to sleep!

Overnight steel cut oats with frozen fruit, chia seeds, and almond milk with some peanut butter and sun butter on top!

After another little snack, I was able to fall back asleep! Slept like a baby for 3 hours 🙂 The best!

Lunch was just had… Which was a tofu scramble drizzled with lemon tahini dressing.

Silken Tofu, onions, red and yellow peppers, kale, cilantro, garlic, and spices all sauteed together with coconut oil!

To be honest, I was surprised at the taste! It was great… Okay, maybe not great, but really good!!

I rarely eat tofu because…

  1. I’m not too crazy about the “processed soy” factor of it… I’m not even sure if it’s healthy or unhealthy, for some reason though I have it engrained in my head that it’s not great to eat processed soy items too often… (If any one can enlighten me on the subject feel free!)
  2. I don’t really know how to prepare it…
  3. I don’t particularly like tofu, but I don’t dislike it either… It’s kind of a “mehh” food for me… Except when it’s in the chocolate hazelnut pudding mousse!

I may incorporate it a little more often since it’s a source of protein for my veg eating, rare meat consuming self.

I’ve got a nice, relaxed day ahead!

Going to head to the market with my main squeeze and get some fresh foods to cook!

I’m excited!

Anyone have any fun weekend plans?!? What are your thoughts on tofu? Do you eat tofu on the reg, not at all, sometimes?!?

PB & B!!

Hello there!

This morning I went back to one of my favorites- I don’t eat this nearly enough!

One toast with peanut butter, and one with almond butter – The peanut butter/banana combo definitely wins!!

(Brown banana – not so good lookin’ but darn good tastin’!)

Along with my toast I had a smoothie and tea!

Simple and delicious breakfast!

Another peanut butter snack that I really enjoy is:

Crackers with peanut butter and prunes with cinnamon sprinkled on top! Oh so yummy!!!

You know what else crackers are good with?!?

That’s right!!

Today I’m going to attempt to make sweet potato chips! I’ll report back tomorrow!!

Short and Sweet… Really sweet.

Good morning all the beautiful people of the world!

It’s a beautiful day here in Vancouver!

Look at that blue sky!

This post will be short and sweet because I gotta run to work.. (bus actually) I’d hate to actually have to run to work… Arriving there all nice and sweaty. Fabulous.

What did my dinner last night and my breakfast this morning have in common?

Absolutely nothing!

Kidding… they were sort of similar in the fact that they could both be placed in the breakfast food category.

Hot apple cinnamon raisin oats with almond butter maple sauce!

Dark chocolate peanut butter smoothie cereal!

Which one was breakfast and which one was dinner you ask?

Well the oatmeal was dinner- would definitely have this for dinner every night! SO delicious!!

And the smoothie/cereal was breakfast – also very freakin’ fabulous!

I’m Not Green TEAsing You…This Is Mashed Up!

This post involves green food.

Green tea.

Tea in general.

And a flop of an attempt at lunch – which turned into a mash up.

This morning, a good ol’ fashioned toasted toast with peanut butter was calling my name.

I spread some coconut butter on top as well. It melted into a peanut buttery coconut goodness.

The green smoothie gods were also calling my name. I simply needed a smoothie, more specifically, a green one!

1/2 ripe frozen banana, 1/4 cup frozen berries, 1 scoop vanilla protein powder,1 cup non-dairy milk, and a HUGE handful of spinach. Blend away!!

These smoothies are so good!!

I gobbled this one down in two seconds. 😦

I want to be one of those people who can drink/eat slowly, but I really don’t think it’s possible. Especially when you put a green smoothie in front of me.

Or this cocktail:

Last night I went to my friend Brittany’s birthday dinner celebration. (Happy Birthday girlie!) We went to a very yummy restaurant with really cool/original cocktails.

As soon as I saw the ingredients in this one, I knew I had to have it!

Tequila AND tea?!? YES please. And Thank You. This was SO good!

The food was also great. I had:

Roasted beet salad, with pear, goat cheese, and beet chips!

Topped with a soft boiled egg! Hail to that liquid yellow center!

The night was filled with good food, yummy cocktails, and great company!

Now onto a not so successful food adventure.

My lunch.

It tasted really good, but was definitely NOT what I was going for. I attempted to make a quinoa/butternut squash pizza crust- HA, that ended up being a joke. It didn’t work! I have made a quinoa crusts before, but I guess the addition of the butternut squash didn’t work. So anyways, I baked the “crust” a little bit, but it was mush. Tasty mush. I added my pizza toppings in the mush crust and baked that all for 15 minutes.

I call this my Pizza Mash Up!

Put a little spinach underneath (because spinach for breakfast and lunch is good for you) 🙂

Now I am sipping on some green tea and nibbling on dark chocolate!

I can’t believe it’s already Friday! The weeks are flying by!

To start the weekend off on the right (or left) foot.. Here’s one of my favorite really lame hilarious jokes of all time.

I read it in a magazine a long time ago, and it has never left my mind.

Here it goes!:

Snake 1: Are we poisonous?

Snake 2: I don’t know, why?

Snake 1: I just bit my lip….

Makes me smile 🙂 every time!
